Commission accepted its Hearing Officer's proposed decisions on the following license and permit items from the Commission's October 22, 2004, Executive Session.

  • RALPH RENNA, DENIED, RESIDENT RESTRICTED SPECIES EXHIBITING PERMIT AND BREEDING PERMIT.
  • DAVID RIHERD, APPROVED, AFRICAN PYGMY HEDGEHOG PERMIT.

Received Departmentís recommendations; received public testimony. At the request of the recreational and commercial fishermen the Commission delayed possible adoption until its December 3, 2004, meeting.

CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ADOPTION OF PROPOSED CHANGES TO SECTIONS 1.91, 27.60, 27.65, 27.82, 27.83, 28.26, 28.27, 28.28, 28.29, 28.54, 28.55, 28.56, 28.58 AND 28.90, TITLE 14, CCR, RE: RECREATIONAL GROUNDFISH FISHING REGULATIONS FOR 2005 AND 2006 FOR CONSISTENCY WITH FEDERAL RULES.

Received the Departmentís recommendations and proposals; received public testimony. Commission amended the recreational groundfish fishing regulations for 2005 and 2006 as proposed by the Department and for consistency with Federal Regulations.

RECEIPT OF PUBLIC TESTIMONY ON PROPOSED CHANGES TO SECTION 163, TITLE 14, CCR, RE: HERRING GILL NET MESH SIZE FOR THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY FISHERY.

Received Departmentís recommendations; received public testimony. The Commission expressed its concerns with the eroding relationship between the Department and the fishermen and again expressed that the department work with the fishermen and provide a supplemental ED for the Commission to consider a gill net mesh size change. The Department agreed to work with the fishermen in rebuilding its rapport.

RECEIPT OF RECOMMENDATION FROM THE AL TAUCHER POLICY PRESERVING HUNTING AND SPORT FISHING OPPORTUNITIES ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO AMEND THE COMMISSION'S POLICY ON UPLAND GAME TO ADD A SECTION REGARDING GAME BIRD HERITAGE. (Note: Commission will consider adoption at its December 3, 2004, meeting in Monterey.)

DEPARTMENT REQUEST PURSUANT TO SECTION 2073.5(b) OF THE FISH AND GAME CODE FOR AN EXTENSION OF TIME OF 30 DAYS TO COMPLETE ITS EVALUATION OF THE PETITION TO DE-LIST THE COHO SALMON (Oncorhynchus kisutch) SOUTH OF SAN FRANCISCO AS AN ENDANGERED SPECIES.
