2. Furthering the Federal/State Nexus – The Bay-Delta Watershed and the Role for DPIIC: Committee members will hear from the United States Government Accountability Office regarding the recently released report, “San Francisco Bay Delta Watershed: Wide Range of Restoration

Efforts Need Updated Federal Reporting and Coordination Roles. Ryan Stanbra, the Delta Stewardship Council’s legislative and policy advisor will facilitate the panel.

Committee Discussion: 1) How has DPIIC supported coordinated federal efforts? 2) How can the DPIIC venue be used to further strengthen State and federal efforts across the Bay and Delta, as well as the full watershed?

3. Future Delta 2050-2100 – Progress Toward Restoration and Recovery: Committee members will hear updates on the Delta Plan Ecosystem Amendment, California EcoRestore, and multi- agency permitting efforts, and discuss how to support restoration in the Delta.

Panelists:

Delta Plan Ecosystem Amendment: Ron Melcer, Delta Stewardship Council

California EcoRestore: Bill Harrell, California Department of Water Resources

Multi-agency Permitting: Erika Lovejoy, Sustainable Conservation, and Larry Goldzband, San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission

Committee Discussion: 1) In what ways can DPIIC assist in resolving restoration implementation gaps? 2) How can DPIIC assist in the continuation of and build upon the EcoRestore program in a new State administration? 3) What can we learn and apply from the Bay’s approach to multi-agency permitting efforts in the Delta?


4. One Delta, One Science – Advancing Collaborative Science: Committee members will hear

updates on collaborative science activities: Delta Science Program funding efforts, the updated Delta Science Plan, and the Delta Science Funding Initiative.

Delta Science Program Updates: John Callaway, Delta Science Program

Delta Science Plan: Yumiko Henneberry, Delta Science Program

Delta Science Funding Initiative: Randy Fiorini, Delta Stewardship Council

Committee Discussion: 1) Does the updated Delta Science Plan reflect our shared vision of One Delta, One Science? 2) How do DPIIC member agencies plan to continue to use the Delta Science Plan?

Committee Request: Endorse updated Delta Science Plan, in concept, and continue joint implementation of the Delta Science Plan to inform Delta decision-making.

5. Aquatic Weeds and Nutria Update: Committee members will hear updates on efforts to control aquatic weeds and nutria and discuss how DPIIC agencies can support assessment and control activities.

Panelists:

Aquatic Weeds: Edward Hard, California Department of Boating and Waterways and Michelle Dennis, California Department of Food and Agriculture

Nutria: Martha Volkoff, California Department of Fish and Wildlife

Committee Discussion: How can DPIIC agencies best coordinate and support aquatic weed and nutria control and eradication efforts?

Committee Request: Form and participate in a multi-agency nutria workgroup to accelerate eradication efforts.

6.    Closing Remarks and Committee Business

Committee members will have the opportunity to review DPIIC accomplishments, discuss the value of DPIIC, and make suggestions for strengthening the collaboration through future efforts. Committee members can also discuss committee business and the next meeting, to be held April 8, 2019.
