Assembly Bill 179 (Cervantes, Chapter 737, Statutes
2017) directs the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and California
Transportation Commission (CTC) to meet at least twice a year to coordinate
implementation of transportation programs and policies. The purpose of the first joint meeting is to kick-off
this coordination by discussing shared interests and policies to achieving
climate, air quality, and equity goals.

Purpose, and Desired Meeting Outcomes
CARB and CTC will hear an overview of AB
179, the purpose of the bill, and the main outcomes anticipated from joint
meetings and continued collaboration.

will hear a presentation on the agencies’ missions, program priorities, and areas
identified for coordination and collaboration.

a staff presentation on the Scoping Plan and State transportation planning and
programming.

CARB Board Members and CTC Commissioners will ask questions on the staff
presentation, discuss topics of mutual interest in transportation programs and
policies, and discuss key topics of focus for the next joint meeting.
There will be a Comment Period to allow an opportunity for interested
members of the public to directly address CARB, CTC, and CARB/CTC staff. Each
person will be allowed a maximum of three minutes to ensure that everyone has a
chance to speak.
