Public Comment: The public will be invited to provide general comment on subjects related to the work of the MLPA Blue Ribbon Task Force (BRTF) at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 and at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2009. Speaker cards are requested and may be found at the entrance to the room. Time allotted for public comment is determined by the number of requests and can range from one to three minutes per comment; submitting written comments that can be easily summarized in one to two minutes is encouraged.

Meeting materials will not be provided at the meeting but will be posted to this page as soon as they are available.

Meeting Objectives

  • Receive presentation of draft marine protected area (MPA) proposals developed by work groups of the MLPA South Coast Regional Stakeholder Group (SCRSG) and revised MPA proposals developed external to the SCRSG process
  • Receive MLPA Master Plan Science Advisory Team (SAT), California Department of Fish and Game, California Department of Parks and Recreation, and staff MLPA Goal 3 evaluations of draft and revised MPA proposals
  • Potentially provide guidance to SCRSG members regarding the development of Round 3 SCRSG MPA proposals
  • Receive updates on the work of the SAT, SCRSG, and MLPA Statewide Interests Group (SIG)
  • Receive and potentially approve the revised 2008-2011 MLPA Initiative budget
