Purpose On August 11, the Delta Independent Science Board (Delta ISB) will meet to discuss its reviews and activities, including its review of the draft Environmental Impact Report for the Delta Conveyance Project. These discussions will help inform the Board’s work plan over the next year. In addition, Delta Stewardship Council staff will provide an overview of the Council’s adopted Ecosystem Amendment, consisting of revisions to Delta Plan Chapter 4 (Protect, Restore, and Enhance the Delta Ecosystem). This Purpose section describes the highlights. For more information about the meeting, refer to the agenda below. The meeting will continue on August 12 with a Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta tour. Based on the discussion, the Delta ISB may take potential action on next steps on this idea. |

6. | Discussion: Science Needs Assessment Based on the recommendations from the Delta ISB in February 2019 and the endorsement of the Delta Plan Interagency Implementation Committee (DPIIC), a long-term Science Needs Assessment is being developed as part of the Delta Science Funding and Governance Initiative. The Science Needs Assessment will identify key science efforts to provide long-term management insights in the context of rapid environmental change and recommendations for organizing the science enterprise to better address complex and changing problems. The Delta ISB will discuss progress made and potential next steps on the Science Needs Assessment. |

10. | Presentation: Delta Plan Ecosystem Amendment Update On June 23, 2022, the Delta Stewardship Council certified a Final Program Environmental Impact Report (PEIR) and adopted the Ecosystem Amendment, consisting of revisions to Delta Plan Chapter 4 (Protect, Restore, and Enhance the Delta Ecosystem) and new and revised mitigation measures identified in the PEIR. Jeff Henderson and Dan Constable of the Delta Stewardship Council staff will provide an overview of the Ecosystem Amendment. |

11. | Discussion: Delta Conveyance Project Environmental Impact Report On July 27, 2022, the California Department of Water Resources released the draft Environmental Impact Report of the Delta Conveyance Project. The Delta ISB will discuss the draft Environmental Impact Report, its review of the document, and next steps. |

12. | Reflections from the Outgoing Delta ISB Chair Dr. Stephen Brandt’s term as Delta ISB Chair ends on August 31, 2022, and Dr. Lisa Wainger will become Chair on September 1, 2022. Dr. Brandt will reflect on his term as Delta ISB Chair. |
